Pupils mark Roald Dahl Day

YOUNG people from across Halton enjoyed an afternoon of experiment­s on what would have been Roald Dahl’s birthday with events at the borough’s libraries.

Halton Borough Council staff organised a host of free fizzwhizzi­ng experiment­ations for more than 40 youngsters.

The events at Widnes and Halton Lea Libraries included young people making balloon rockets, experienci­ng if it was possible to blow up balloons with popping candy, being amazed by optical illusions, colouring in pictures and finding out their Roald Dahl names.

A council spokesman said: “If you missed out, don’t worry.

“Halton Library Services runs lots of free after school activities for parents to bring their children along to.

“Kids can get creative and build create new inventions, whilst making friends and learning new skills.

“All library events are free of ● charge and drop in.”

Code clubs are hosted on Tuesdays from 3.45pm to 5pm at both Widnes and Halton Lea Libraries, where children can get to grips with computer programmin­g. Lego clubs are also held at both facilities throughout the week.

This includes on Tuesdays from 5pm to 7pm at both Widnes and Halton Lea, Monday from 3.30pm to 5pm at Halton Lea and Thursdays at the same times in Widnes.
