Lo­gis­tics boss in line for women’s award

ARUNCORN lo­gis­tics man­ager has been short­listed as a fi­nal­ist at the 2018 FTA Every­woman In Trans­port & Lo­gis­tics Awards.

Helen Burke, con­tract man­ager with XPO Lo­gis­tics, was short­listed for the in­fra­struc­ture cat­e­gory, the win­ner of which will have to per­suade judges that they have im­proved rail and road trans­port the most.

She will be among 36 fi­nal­ists com­pet­ing in the awards’ 11th year.

A fact sheet re­leased by the awards or­gan­is­ers said Helen earned her place in the final based on achieve­ments in­clud­ing hav­ing con­vinced site man­agers to em­brace a busi­ness model that led to £600,000 in sav­ings on fuel us­age and by boost­ing cus­tomer ser­vice lev- els

Helen has more than 14 years of ex­pe­ri­ence work­ing at two ma­jor firms and in in­dus­tries in­clud­ing, man­u­fac­tur­ing, met­als, hor­ti­cul­ture and haz­ardous goods.

Her roles have var­ied from ad­min­is­tra­tion, claims and plan­ning to op­er­a­tional and con­trac­tual man­age­ment.

An FTA Every­woman awards spokes­woman said: “Helen is gen­er­ous to a fault, sac­ri­fic­ing her per­sonal time to en­sure her team is men­tored and sup­ported.

“Helen of­ten trav­els away from home to de­liver on cus­tomer and busi­ness com­mit­ments and ob­jec­tives.”

An FTA spokes­woman said: “Now in its 11th year, the awards pro­gramme cel­e­brates the achieve­ments of phe­nom­e­nal women re­shap­ing the UK’s trans­port and lo­gis­tics in­dus­try, while show­cas­ing the range of ex­cit­ing. ca­reer op­por­tu­ni­ties it has to of­fer.

“This year, the pro­gramme is re­veal­ing even more role mod­els whose achieve­ments will in­spire and at­tract the next gen­er­a­tion of fe­male talent to fol­low in their foot­steps.

“A brand-new cat­e­gory – the male agent of change award – also launched this year, cel­e­brat­ing the men cham­pi­oning the progress of women in trans­port and lo­gis­tics.”
