Castle cannot be breached as they bag full house win over Kingswood
PACESETTERS in Section One of the Runcorn & District Bowling Association, Norley, carried on where they left off the previous week with a superb 159-95 victory at Norton Arms.
No fewer than four players won their contests to single figures – Gerald Merry (21-3), Fred Worrall (21-5), Barry Ellams (21-8) and Peter Illidge (21-9). Replying for Norton were Phil Hughes (21-16) and Gareth Dimelow (21-17).
Second-placed Pavilions ‘A’ entertained Halton RBL ‘A’ and ran out the winners 164-91.
Leading the way for the Lions were captain Neal Ocego (21-4), Pat Crowe (21-6) and Mark Furber (21-9). The only reply for the Legion came via Alan Dennett’s 21-17 success.
Castle SSC in third secured their first full house of the season with a 168-76 victory over Kingswood ‘A’.
Leading from the front were John Gurney and William Andrews who both won their games 21-2, Eric Webber (21-6) and Phil Scott (21-7).
Section Two table-toppers Kingsley ‘A’ travelled to take on newcomers Grapes ‘C’ and were victorious 166-77.

Shining in the spotlight was Dave Ewart (21-0) along with Derek Bell, Eric Howman and Robert Hill who all won 21-7. The only reply for the Grapes was recorded by Gary Whelan (21-19).
Manley moved up into third place after a 152-101 victory over War Memorial.
Phil Cottiga (21-4), Barry Ellis (21-7) and Mark Gilson (21-8) led the way for the victorious Manley side while replying for War Memorial were Mike Couzens (21-12) and Dennis Sharp (21-14).
Fourth-placed Kingsley ‘B’ took on Subscription and just lost out 144-141 in a hardfought encounter.
Dennis Rigby (21-6) and Don Bryning (21-9) led the way for Subscription while the best reply for Kingsley came from Robin Graham (21-12).
Leaders in Section Three, Rock Park, took on Frodsham Cons but went down to a 135-128 defeat.
Impressing for the Cons in the encounter were Mal Cleworth (21-1) and Chris Weston (21-7).
Replying for the Park were Ann Whitby and Joan Fletcher (both 21-12).
Second-placed Pavilions ‘D’ made up ground on the leaders with a 151-107 victory against Helsby ‘D’.
Maurice Melvin and Peter Dumbill (both 21-6), Brian Peck (21-7) and Collette Bate (21-8) led the way for Pavilions.
Replying for Helsby was Mike Clarke who won his game 21-12.
Third-placed Halton ‘B’ took on Pavilions ‘C’ and were triumphant 135-115.
The best winner on the night for Halton was young Kayley Welsh who won 21-7.
