Hornets battle hard but Saddleworth prove too strong in semi-final
HFH U13 12 Saddleworth U13 56 HORNETS locked horns with the undefeated Saddleworth side in the Lancashire Cup semi-final and knew it would be a tough task.
Early errors gave Saddleworth an 18-point lead before Peter Scott’s crossfield kick was collected by Zac Marsden to get the try with Scott converting from the touchline.
Saddleworth crossed the whitewash just before half-time for a 24-6 lead at the interval.
Hornets claimed the first score in the second half when Elliott Droogan touched down, his try successfully converted by Charlie Glover to get them right back in the game at 24-12.
But silly mistakes on the first sets and turning the ball over allowed Saddleworth to run away with the game in the end as they tacked on 32 unanswered points. The opposition selected Peter Scott as Hornets’ man-of-the-match.
