Away the ladies as su­per Rock Park ‘B’ se­cure suc­cess at Grapes ‘B’

IN the Run­corn & Dis­trict Bowling As­so­ci­a­tion’s Sec­tion One, pace­set­ters Nor­ley had a dif­fi­cult game at home against Cas­tle S&SC but man­aged to se­cure a 133-126 vic­tory.

With both teams field­ing strong line-ups, the best win­ners for Cas­tle were John Gur­ney (21-6) and Andy Ham­man (21-3) with Kevin Dun­calf (21-8) re­ply­ing to help Nor­ley main­tain their un­beaten record.

An­other fine away dis­play en­sured Pavil­ions ‘A’ stay un­beaten. This time, they scored a 146-129 win at Hazel Pear. Alan Briscoe shone with a 21-9 suc­cess for the win­ners.

Hal­ton RBL ‘A’ were the only team to post a full house, their maximum be­ing recorded against Kingswood. Jim Tom­lin­son posted a 21-10 win to lead the way.

Nor­ton ‘A’ man­aged to win away at Pavil­ions ‘B’ with John Hughes, Phil Hughes and Jeff Hughes mak­ing the dif­fer­ence on the night, all win­ning to sin­gle fig­ures.

Kingswood ‘A’ made home green ad­van­tage count against Helsby ‘C’ win­ning 153-113 while Helsby ‘A’ won 165-103 at home against Grapes ‘A’ with Dave Evans and Terry Lyons both win­ning 21-8.

In Sec­tion Two, an­other un­beaten team this sea­son, Kings­ley ‘A’, man­aged to see off Man­ley at home 161-123. Derek Bell per­formed best with a 21-9 win.

Sub­scrip­tion beat Wil­low Brook at home, with Al­lan Guest win­ning 21-4.

War Memo­rial were just beaten at home 127-124 by Eger­ton ‘B’ with both teams hav­ing four win­ners on the night. The best win for the War Memo­rial was recorded by Mike Couzens (21-8) with Pat Cooney re­ply­ing (21-7).

Nor­ton ‘B’ had a solid per­for­mance, with three sin­gle fig­ure win­ners in their 152-105 tri­umph at home against Grapes ‘C’, who posted three win­ners them­selves.

In Sec­tion Three, Helsby ‘D’ won 146-131 against Goshawk ‘B’, with Mark Cle­ments im­press­ing with a 21-8 tri­umph. The best re­ply for the Goshawk team was Mike Shields’s 21-13 suc­cess.

The clos­est game with the high­est score hap­pened in Frod­sham with the Cons Club edg­ing a clas­sic 143-142 against Pavil­ions ‘D’. Mal Cle­worth’s 21-8 suc­cess helped se­cure the nar­row­est of wins.

The away per­for­mance of the week goes to Rock Park ‘B’, with the ladies win­ning 152-106 at Grapes ‘B’. Lynn Light, Ann Whitby and Marie Scott all won to sin­gle fig­ures.

Pavil­ions ‘C’ beat Helsby ‘B’ 143-109 with Eu­nice Wat­son and Doreen Good­win both win­ning to sin­gles fig­ures, whilst Heather Ross earned a fine 21-4 win for Helsby.
