Three in hospital after crash
THREE patients went to hospital following a headon collision in Runcorn.
Emergency services were called to Daresbury Expressway at around 3.15pm last Wednesday as the Weekly News was going to print.
The route was shut between Pitts Heath Lane and the A56 Chester Road.
A Cheshire police spokesman said the collision involved a black Peugeot 2008 and a silver Hyundai i20.
He said two occupants had been trapped in one of the cars.
A North West Ambulance Service spokeswoman said two ambulances, a senior clinician, a rapid response vehicle and hazardous area response team were deployed to the scene.
One casualty had a head injury, while another’s leg was damaged.
Three patients in all were taken to Warrington Hospital.
Cheshire Fire And Rescue Service (CFRS) said one appliance from Lymm and one from Runcorn attended.
A CFRS spokesman said: “Crews stabilised one of the vehicles and removed one of the doors to enable them to release the woman inside.
“The woman was then handed over to the care of paramedics.”
