SURE START VOLUNTEERS APPEAL

HALTON Borough Council is calling for volunteers to help to look after vulnerable elderly people, with potential for this to lead to a full-time role.

Sure Start To Later Life is on the lookout for new volunteers to support older vulnerable people by ‘befriending, chatting, supporting them to go out, or IT support.’

All training is provided by the council, as well as a full induction.

Spaces are available as some volunteers moveon into employment, both within the council and externally, others can only volunteer at certain times because of study, work or health issues.

Halton Borough Council’s executive board member for health and wellbeing Cllr Marie Wright said: “No matter how little time you have there is always someone who would benefit from a chat over a cuppa.”
