Boy, 11, se­ri­ously hurt in col­li­sion

A SCHOOL­BOY was taken to hos­pi­tal with ‘se­ri­ous in­juries’ af­ter a col­li­sion with a car in Runcorn.

The in­ci­dent hap­pened in Sandy­moor last Wed­nes­day af­ter­noon, Septem­ber 19, af­ter the Weekly News had gone to press.

A North West Am­bu­lance Ser­vice spokes­woman said paramedics were called to the junc­tion of Whar­ford Lane and New­moore Lane at 2.31pm.

She said an am­bu­lance took an 11-year-old boy to Alder Hey Chil­dren’s Hos­pi­tal, but his con­di­tion was not classed as a ‘ma­jor trauma’.

A Cheshire po­lice spokes­woman said of­fi­cers were called to the scene at 3.15pm.

She said the ca­su­alty was taken to hos­pi­tal with ‘se­ri­ous in­juries’ but could not com­ment fur­ther on their na­ture due to data pro­tec­tion.

There have been no ar­rests and po­lice said by­standers wit­nessed the col­li­sion.

The po­lice spokes­woman said: “At 3.15pm on Wed­nes­day, Septem­ber 19, po­lice were called to a col­li­sion on New­moore Lane, Runcorn. A car had been in col­li­sion with a pedes­trian.

“The ca­su­alty, an 11-year-old boy was taken to Alder Hey Hos­pi­tal with se­ri­ous in­juries.”
