Covid causes cafe to shut for at least two days

-

A COFFEE shop and ice cream parlour in Widnes closed to the public for 48 hours after a customer tested positive for coronavirus.

The Hayloft, on Sandy

Lane in Widnes, posted on their Facebook page on Sunday saying they would be closing for a minimum of 48 hours, as a precaution.

They said the closure came after a customer, who visited the cafe for lunch last Thursday, September 3, informed them of their positive test result.

A statement uploaded to the venue’s Facebook page said: “As a precaution we have made the decision to close The Hayloft today for a minimum of 48 hours after being informed by a customer that they have tested positive for coronavirus. The customer visited Thursday lunch time and anyone affected will be contacted by Track & Trace.

“None of the staff currently have any symptoms, however we are asking those who may have been affected to get tested and follow guidance with regard to self isolating.

“We have extremely robust systems in place for Covid-19 and all tables and chairs are thoroughly sanitised after each customer but we will be conducting a deep clean of the venue over the next 48 hours.”

The family-run ice cream shop, coffee shop and tea room promised to update customers on the situation as soon as possible and thanked them for their support. ●●Warning as Covid cases soar: facing page
