Running for all

Runner's World (UK) - - Human Race -

I was surprised to read Elizabeth Augustine’s comments (RW, Oct) about attitudes to running in the UK. I am a member of Ware Joggers and our motto is ‘Run for Fun’. Everyone encourages and supports each other, from the fastest runners to the slowest. Members join for various reasons: racing, social, coaching, health and fitness, or just to enjoy running with others for its own sake. In my experience, running clubs are generally not elitist, and many offer beginners’ courses. Joining a local club is

likely to be a positive move, as would be participating in one of the many local weekly Parkruns.
