Running on the brain

Runner's World (UK) - - Warm ups/ mind-health -

Stay smart, run more

Here’s something to think about: your running could offer protection against cerebral decline in later years. That was the finding of a recent study1 involving endurance athletes. The research found that athletes in late middle-age who’d been training for at least 15 years had significantly greater cortical thickness (which correlates with better mental ability) in their brains than peers who met, but did not exceed, the minimum physical activity guidelines.
