Run­ning could put you on the path to a longer life. Swedish re­searchers tested the V02 max of men aged 50, cat­e­goris­ing them into lev­els of low, medium or high fit­ness. They re­peated the as­sess­ment every 10 years un­til those left reached 100 years of age, and found a 21 per cent re­duc­tion in mor­tal­ity risk for each higher tier of fit­ness.
