The Wigan Half Marathon

Matt John­son says ‘I or­gan­ised the first Wigan 10K in 2013 and be­cause it was such a suc­cess I was in­spired to or­gan­ise a new run­ning fes­ti­val for this March. It will in­clude a fam­ily mile, a 5K and a half marathon. We hope to get about 2,000 run­ners do­ing the half. The route has been de­signed to show­case the his­toric and more in­ter­est­ing parts of Wigan, as well as be­ing a bit of a chal­lenge what­ever your level of run­ning. It’s not too hilly, with just that one climb in the mid­dle – and I think peo­ple will be sur­prised how green the area is. If it’s any­thing like the 10K has been, the crowds will re­ally turn out to sup­port the run­ners, too.’ The de­but 2017 race is on March 19 wigan­half­
