WHY DO I RUN? BECAUSE I CAN

Runner's World (UK) - - HUMAN RACE - Claire Herworth, Woodland, Co Durham

I wasn't really feeling like going out running one evening, but since a race was looming I forced myself to hit the road. At one point along the way an elderly gentleman heard me coming up behind him and so he stepped onto the grass to let me pass. ‘Do a mile for me!’ he bellowed as I went past. ‘I will!’ I replied with a fist pump. His words really encouraged me and put a spring in my step, and I ended up running three times further than planned. All I was thinking was 'run for those who cannot’ and I try to keep that sentiment with me on every run.
