A LONELY ROAD

Runner's World (UK) - - HUMAN RACE -

I’m training for a marathon and am doing a lot of the runs alone for logistical reasons. On my last long run I must have passed 40 runners. Each time, I made the effort to look up, say hello and smile – hoping this would encourage them and motivate me, too. Not one person smiled back or even acknowledged me. Are runners becoming miserable? Ania Gabb, Beaconsfield, Bucks

Ania Gabb has a smile for everyone and thinks it should work both ways.
