A LONELY ROAD
I’m training for a marathon and am doing a lot of the runs alone for logistical reasons. On my last long run I must have passed 40 runners. Each time, I made the effort to look up, say hello and smile – hoping this would encourage them and motivate me, too. Not one person smiled back or even acknowledged me.
