SHAKESPEARE HALF MARATHON

Race director Cliff Armstrong describes this Warwickshire charmer

Runner's World (UK) - - RACE - This year’s race is on May 7. Visit shakespearemarathon.org.uk

Cliff Armstrong says: ‘The race started in 1982 and now we have about 3,000 participants running the half marathon and full 26.2. As well as fancy-dress-wearing fun runners we have serious types chasing PBS, thanks to the flat course. The event raises about £55,000 for charity. Because so many tourists flock to Stratford, we attract a fair number of overseas entrants who combine the race with their visit. We try to hold it on the closest weekend to Shakespeare’s birthday, although that’s not always possible. We normally get great feedback and good crowds.’
