PRACTISING MINDFULNESS can help you cope with the mental demands of running, says a new study1. ‘Mindfulness helps individuals remove emotion from judgments, focus on the body and be more objective and rational,’ explains study author Dr Chia-huei Wu. He found that athletes with a more mindful disposition had greater mental focus and were better equipped to perform under pressure. Bonus: another recent study found that mindfulness can fortify the immune system.
