REGARDLESS of your size, regular activity is good for your heart. That’s the finding of a study from the University of Wolverhampton. Researchers recorded heart rate and oxygen uptake in 4,500 people undergoing treadmill testing. They also measured blood glucose, cholesterol and blood pressure to get a full picture of participants’ cardiometabolic risk (CMR). Those with the highest fitness levels had the lowest CMR, irrespective of their weight and body fat levels, suggesting that being fit and active greatly outweighs the importance of body composition.

BE DEAR TO YOUR HEART It beats around 100,000 times a day. Show it some love by keeping it healthy.
