Jo Pavey on running while pushing a buggy

-

As we move into the winter months stay in touch with your speed. Some runners make the mistake of resorting to the grind of winter by running many miles, losing touch with the speed they worked so hard to build. This often leads to injury once speedwork is reintroduced as they head into spring. The body has been deconditioned to faster work and the runner often pushes too hard in a panic to get back what has been lost. To keep your speed topped up during winter it’s useful to regularly do something like a block of 8-10 x 400m, with one-minute recoveries, as part of your routine.
