Take a LEAP of faith for charity
A charity which assists elderly people in Rutherglen and Cambuslang is calling on volunteers to help out.
The Lightburn Elderly Association Project (LEAP) empowers older people aged 50+ to stay active and independent within their community.
They do this by offering two distinct projects.
Firstly, there is the Hands on Project. This is a free handyperson service, delivered by volunteers who carry out small jobs around the house such as changing light bulbs, cleaning the insides of windows and building flatpack furniture.
The project also offers a befriending service to enable isolated people to build new relationships and get back out into the community.
There is also the Make a Difference Project – a free home energy advice service which offers practical help to enable people to stay affordably warm during the winter months. LEAP can fit free draught proofing, light bulbs and other items as well as take the stress out of billing.
A spokesperson said: “We are looking for enthusiastic people to join our team and give just a few hours per week.”
