Rutherglen Reformer

Facelift completed

-

Extensive work to upgrade the Rutherglen Exchange shopping centre has been completed.

As part of the ongoing refurbishment of the centre, the lift was repaired while work took place on the mall cafe.

The Big Coffee Cup had to close for a couple of weeks to allow the work to be carried out, resulting in a new, modern eating area that complements the brighter main square.

Centre manager Jane Cowan said: “It has been a long haul but the centre has made it.

“To top this off, the lift in the shopping centre has had extensive repairs carried out on it.

“Our loyal customers have been so tolerant with all the disruption and we would really like to thank them for their patience.”

The lift required a significant amount of work, having been in place for over 30 years.

Now the centre is looking forward to showcasing its new look.

“We are kicking off an autumn of exciting events with a visit from the Bookbug bear on Saturday, September 6. He is coming to visit all the children that come to our monthly Kids Clubs.”

A calendar of events then follows, taking the centre up to Christmas and beyond.
