It’s show­time!

A Cam­bus­lang dance school re­cently marked its 25th an­niver­sary.

The Valda Hunter School of Dance marked its sil­ver cel­e­bra­tions with an out­stand­ing show which was held in the Cam­bus­lang In­sti­tute.

The sum­mer dance re­view be­gan with the se­nior bal­let dancers and Bro­ken Sor­row, fol­lowed by cheer­lead­ing from the cheer team.

The ju­nior tap dancers moved their fee to I Just Can’t Wait To Be King, and the nurs­ery tap fol­lowed with Zia A Dee Do Da.

Freestyle moves came from the frestyle class, then the boys hip hop group let loose to That Power. The Se­nior Tap were next with Hit Me Up, and the freestyle class danced to True Colours, be­fore the nurs­ery disco per­formned to Ev­ery­thing is Awe­some.

Round­ing off the first half of the show was Frozen scene, with the Star­lite bal­let per­form­ing Do You Want To Build A Snow­man? and In The Sum­mer, with the ju­nior bal­let do­ing Let It Go.

Af­ter the in­ter­val, there was a Mary Pop­pins theme. This be­gan with Eilidh and James Lamb danc­ing to A Per­fect Nanny, with Marry Pop­pins and the chil­dren do­ing Prac­ti­cally Per­fect, while the ju­nior and se­nior bal­let danced to Chim Chim Cheree. The Starlight bal­let did Jolly Hol­i­day, the ju­nior tap did Step In Time, while the jurs­ery bal­let brought A Spoon­ful of Sugar to life.

The sec­tion was rounded off with the ju­nior tap dancers per­form­ing to Su­per­cal­ifrag­ilis­tic­ex­pi­ali­do­cious.

Af­ter a raf­fle, the show was brought to a close with Wild from the se­nior freestylers, Bing Bang from the ju­nior freestyle, be­fore Hooked On Clas­sics from the ju­nior and se­nior bal­let. The whole cast per­formed to Happy, to fin­ish off an out­stand­ing show.

Tracey McCue, who runs the school of dance, said: “The show this year was amaz­ing. Pupils per­formed and smiled from nurs­ery to ad­vanced level with lots of flair and style.

“I am so proud of my pupils and thank­ful for all their hard work and en­thu­sisam through­out the sea­son.

“This is our 25th year sil­ver dance an­niver­sary teach­ing in Cam­bus­lang. I am very thank­ful to past and present pupils for at­tend­ing our school - where has the time gone?

“We’re now ready for the new sea­son start­ing on Satur­days in Cam­bus­lang Bap­tist Church.”
