Cool coupe a digital delight

New Audi TT will hit our streets in early December

-

A fantastic digital virtual cockpit is a feature of the all-new Audi TT coupe due to hit our streets in time for Christmas.

The premium brand is describing the arrival of this third generation TT as automotive supercomputer meets state-of-the-art sports car.

Priced from £29,770, the new range will include an efficiency focused TT Ultra version capable of 67.3mpg with CO2 emissions of just 110g/km.

Nonetheless, it can still reach 62mph in 7.1 seconds and top out at 150mph.

Two spec levels – Sport and S line – will initially be offered in the UK and both come with the virtual cockpit.

It is based around a 12.3inch, high resolution LCD display that completely fills the driver’s instrument binnacle and replaces the traditional analogue dials.

Drivers can choose between two display modes - a classic view with the speedometer and rev counter in the foreground or in “infotainment” mode whereby the virtual instruments are smaller.

The freed up space provides room for functions like the navigation map while the lower edge displays outside temperature, time, mileage and warning or info symbols.

Interior techno highlights for Sport models also include the Multi Media Interface with the MMI touch pad for fingertip data entry, navigation preparation, Audi Music Interface and Bluetooth, the Audi drive select adaptive dynamics system and keyless go.

Buyers will also get Alcantara and leather upholstery for the standard sports seats and manual air-con, with controls integrated into the air vents another break with convention.

Outside the cabin, 18-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels, sports suspension, xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights and a speed-dependent active rear spoiler all also feature as standard.

Engines at launch are a 230PS 2.0-litre TFSI petrol unit with front-wheel-drive or quattro all-wheel-drive, and a 2.0 TDI diesel producing 184PS exclusively with front-wheeldrive.

And Audi says a fire-breathing TTS version developing 310PS will join the party next spring.

Prices are from £29,860 for the Audi TT 2.0 TFSI Sport manual model rising to £35,335 for the 2.0 TFSI quattro S line S tronic version.

Diesels start at £29,770 for the 2.0 TDI ultra Sport.
