A Cam­bus­lang woman in­sisted she was stay­ing in Egypt de­spite the on­go­ing trou­bles in the coun­try.

Char­lotte Docherty (32), who has been teach­ing in Egypt since 2010, said that de­spite the sit­u­a­tion, with a state of emer­gency in force and an early even­ing cur­few, she fully in­tended to stay there.

Char­lotte and hus­band Gary lived in the town of Maadi, near Cairo, but de­spite pleas to re­turn home, said they were stay­ing put.

The start of the new school year be­gan, and teach­ers at Hall­side Pri­mary wel­comed twins Matthew and Reis MacGowan, and Misha and Reuben Biswas started their lives in pri­mary one.
