Taylor is Tories’ candidate
The Scottish Conservatives have selected their candidate to contest the Rutherglen and Hamilton West seat at the General Election in 2015.
Rutherglen resident Taylor Muir will stand for the party to fight for the Westminster seat.
The 19- year- old is about to enter his second year at Strathclyde University and is currently studying for an LLB Law Degree.
His family are all based in Rutherglen and years ago, his gran worked in the Hoover factory in Cambuslang.
Mr Muir said: “I am absolutely delighted to have won the selection to be Conservative candidate for Rutherglen and Hamilton West.
“I’d like to express my thanks and deep appreciation for all the support I’ve received over the course of the last few weeks.
“My task now is to repay the faith that has been shown in me.
“I look forward to getting out and about in the constituency over the coming weeks and months, and speaking to as many people as possible.”
In 2010 Conservative candidate Malcolm Macaskill gained 4540 votes, 9.7 per cent, for the party.
