Fair Trade Xmas gifts
The Stonelaw High Fair Traders are holding their annual Christmas gift event later this week.
It will take place on Friday, November 7, at the school on Calderwood Road, from 3.30-8pm.
Back in 2003, the Stonelaw High School Traders were given a grant of £100 to help them buy some goods, which they would then sell, with all profits sent to South Africa.
In 2014, that £100 has more than paid itself back, with over £180,000 being raised.
All profits support the education of hundreds of AIDS orphans and vulnerable children in Kwazulu Natal, South Africa.
The school has since forged a strong link with Ikusasalethu High School in Mtubatuba, which has seen teachers from South Africa visit Stonelaw, while pupils and staff from Rutherglen have travelled to make the return trip.
