Pharmacy offers flu vaccinations

Rutherglen Reformer - - News - Douglas Dickie

A Rutherglen pharmacy and James Kelly MSP are calling on residents to protect themselves from flu this winter.

The Superdrug store in Rutherglen Exchange Shopping centre is offering a flu vaccination service in-store until March next year.

Research released by Superdrug shows workplace absences in total cost UK employers £13 billion a year, 90 per cent of which are attributable to flu and colds.

Lucinda Clark, Pharmacy Manager Superdrug Rutherglen, said:“We are now providing a vaccination scheme that allows a larger population to access a flub jab.

“Lots of self-employed people are taking advantage of the scheme ahead of the cold coming in. Not everyone can access vaccination through the NHS so this lets as many people as possible protect themselves for winter.”

James Kelly MSP said: “As the cold winter months come in, it is important that people in Rutherglen and Cambuslang protect themselves, especially older people.

“I’ve had a flu jab so I can keep representing the interest of my constituents. I can’t afford to be taking time off sick with the flu.

“But for many people the flu is more than an inconvenience of a few days off work or a lost weekend but a serious threat to their wellbeing.

s“I would encourage all constituents to get a flu jab this winter, and wrap up warm during the cold months.”
