Bowlers’ tribute toTom
Cambuslang Bowling Club has this week announced the death of honorary member Tom McNee.
He was an ever-present at the club until his health deteriorated keeping him away for a number of years.
Although Tom, of Glenburn Avenue, Eastfield, never took office in the club, in 2006 he was afforded honorary membership for his sterling service to the club on the bowling green. He won the club championship seven times and represented the club at all levels throughout his bowling career.
Tom, who was in his early 80s, was a retired clerk of works in the building trade.
He is survived by his wife Nessie, daughter Maureen and sons Jim and Ian.
Past president Will McArthur said: “He was a true gent on and off the green. Our sincere condolences to all the family.”
A requiem mass was held in St Bride’s last Friday, with the funeral service on Saturday morning.
