Glens battle to a draw
Glencairn’s last home game of the 2014/15 season ended with a 2-2 draw with relegation threatened Yoker.
It was a patched-up Glens side that took the field, with six players unavailable.
Yoker started the game on the front foot, and they were ahead inside five minutes. Hutchison blocked Harvey’s free-kick, but David Crerand fired home the rebound.
Crerand found the net again but the assistant referee flagged for offside. Dunnachie then had to clear Arbukle’s effort off the line after the forward had rounded Hutchison.
Glens started to settle and Winslow had to save McGuire’s deflected effort before Glens equalised through Kilmartin. Dunnachie knocked the ball into the path of the striker who fired into the roof of the net.
The referee then infuriated the home crowd when he chopped off McNeil’s effort for an apparent foul on the goalkeeper.
Glens were now on top and came close to a second when Donaghy’s shot struck a post and Kilmartin fired the rebound against the opposite post.
The home side got their reward in the 41st minute when Kilmartin skipped past a couple of challenges and placed the ball into the net for his second of the match.
The second half started with Winslow saving from Esplin while at the other end, Bissland’s header struck the outside of the post.
Both‘keepers made fine saves, Winslow from Irvine’s dipping effort and Hutchison when Maitland found himself clean through.
Yoker finally found themselves level with 15 minutes to go when Maxwell found space at the back post with his shot deflecting in off Jordan Dalzell.
Glencairn season winds down with successive 2-2 draws against Shettleston and Yoker
