Keen photographers will get the chance to have their snaps in a calendar thanks to a competition being hosted by Burnside in Bloom.

The group are encouraging local residents to get their cameras out to capture the very best of the Burnside area and send it in for their 2016 calendar competition.

Burnside in Bloom are an offshoot of Burnside Community Council and their aim is to improve the environment of the area through the planting of flowers, as well as doing things like organised litter picks.

Now, using the theme of ‘ Burnside in Bloom’ they are asking keen photographers to send in their snaps of the area with a chance of them being featured in the calendar, which will be sold locally.

The team want to invite residents and friends of Burnside to submit a photograph or photographs on the theme of ‘Burnside in Bloom’.

This positive theme can be interpreted in any way and the best 12 photographs will feature in the calendar. The entries should be received no later than May 21, and the successful photographs will be exhibited at the Gala Day in Stonelaw Woods park on May 30. A Reformer photographer will help judge the winners.

The proceeds from the sales of calendars which are intended to go on sale in September, will be in aid of the Burnside in Bloom project.

To submit your photograph email it to Malcolm Piggot at malcolm.piggot@ntlworld. com.
