Girls from Kirkhill Tennis Club were making a real racquet recently.

Fresh from their visit last month from Judy Murray, as part of the club’s 100th birthday celebrations, club president Jacqueline Clark met up with Judy again at Hillhead Sports Club, alongside her new team of Miss-Hits coaches – an initiative aimed at attracting young girls aged five to eight into tennis.

Jackie said:“Tennis skills are taught in a indoor environment with fun, colourful materials.

“Encouraging young girls to play tennis is an aim Kirkhill shares with Miss-Hits and the local club has an ever-increasing female membership, young and old.

“The initiative even made the news that evening on BBC’s Reporting Scotland.”
