Runners join in Cancer Research’s Race for Life
Rutherglen and Cambuslang runners were in the pink on Sunday for a great cause.
Around 10,000 entrants dressed in pink joined Britain’s biggest Race for Life event, organised by Cancer Research UK, with many of the number coming from Rutherglen and Cambuslang.
One of the event’s sponsors was Tesco, and 37 female staff members from the Burnside store took part in this year’s event to help raise funds for cancer charities.
With the help of customers, colleagues and family donations, it looks like they have raised a remarkable £3000.
Over the past five years, the store has raised over £10,000.
Community champion Karen Jarvie said: “Burnside staff and customers are renowned for getting behind a good cause, and it fills me with pride to know that around 70 per cent of the female staff took part this year.
“Thanks also must be given to the staff who worked today to enable others to partake in the event.
“In the run up to the day itself we held a ‘Pink Weekend’ in store raising £314 and
