South La­nark­shire Coun­cil have agreed to sell a for­mer chil­dren’s home in Cam­bus­lang to a lo­cal nurs­ery.

Mem­bers on a hous­ing and tech­ni­cal re­sources com­mit­tee gave the go-ahead for the dis­posal of 61 Freeneuk Wynd.

The coun­cil has ac­cepted an of­fer of £225,100 from Holly Tree Nurs­ery Ltd for the build­ing.

It is be­lieved Holly Tree Nurs­ery will turn it into a sec­ond nurs­ery fa­cil­ity. The home is de­scribed by the coun­cil as“a sub­stan­tial 13 apart­ment mod­ern two storey villa.”

Holly Tree are based nearby, at Bay­wil­low Court in Drum­sagard.

They cur­rently pro­vide nurs­ery places for 68 pre-school chil­dren and em­ploy a staff of 15.

The sale is cur­rently on­go­ing.
