Barry beings to revamp squad
Boss axes 14 players from Bully Wee
Clyde boss Barry Ferguson has been a busy man since the season ended after signing several players and letting more go.
The club have confirmed that Jamie Barclay, Michael Daly, Ryan Frances, David Gray, Iain Gray, Fraser McGhee, Craig McLeish, Stephen O’Donnell, Keigan Parker, Ged Traynor and Kevin Watt are all leaving Clyde as well as Steven McDougall, Scott McManus and Alan Martin.
The list of players who survived the cull and will be staying on for next season are Scott Durie, Scott Ferguson, David Marsh, Mark McLaughlin, Scott McLaughlin, Brian McQueen, Hugh Murray and Mark Roberts.
Former Rangers captain Barry said: “Telling players they are being released is always the most difficult task for any manager and I’m no exception.
“All of the players on the list gave me honesty and commitment and I would like to thank them personally for their service to the club and wish them all the best for the future.”
And many players have already joined the Bully Wee as their replacements. Defender Chris Smith (26) has signed on from Stirling Albion.
Another defender in the shape of Michael Bolochoweckyj (31) has also joined from East Stirling.
Chris Mitchell (26), who can play in defence or midfield, has also joined from Queen of the South. Wing back Scott Linton (25) and striker Archie Campbell (24) will also join from Dumbarton.
Of the signings, Barry said: “Chris (Smith) is a centre half who’s played at a good level throughout his career.
“Michael Bolochoweckyj has a huge amount of experience at our level of football.
“Chris Mitchell is an all round good footballer and he can play in several positions in midfield or at the back.”
The club have also announced details of their Celeb Am Golf Day at Westerwood Golf and Country Club on Friday, June 5.
The club say they aim to raise around £8000 on the day which is critical to their ongoing development plans on and off the pitch.
