Join your neigh­bours for lunch in the park on Sun­day

A group of Ruther­glen par­ents have got to­gether to help host a com­mu­nity lunch in Over­toun Park this week­end.

Eu­ge­nie Aroutch­eff, Lynn Sem­ple and Amy Mackie de­cided they wanted to do some­thing for the com­mu­nity.

They have been in con­tact with the Eden Project, an ed­u­ca­tional char­ity, with re­gards to hold­ing their Big Lunch event in Over­toun Park.

The aim of the Big Lunch is to get as many peo­ple as pos­si­ble across the whole of the UK to have lunch with their neigh­bours or the wider com­mu­nity on the first Sun­day in June in a sim­ple act of com­mu­nity, friend­ship and fun.

The group were suc­cess­ful, and the Big Lunch will come to Over­toun Park this Sun­day ( June 7) from 1pm till 3pm.

Res­i­dents are in­vited to go along to share food and friend­ship with the com­mu­nity.

There is no al­co­hol al­lowed and any­one at­tend­ing should bring their own food to share.

Eu­ge­nie said: “We’d like to thank our spon­sors in­clud­ing Tesco in Burn­side, Friends of Over­toun Park and Ace Place Nurs­ery.”
