Easy way to help fill coun­cil fund­ing gap

I note in one of the other ar­ti­cles in last week’s Re­former page 42, that Ed­die McAvoy is quoted as say­ing that “…. changes to the fi­nan­cial set­tle­ment made by the Scot­tish Gov­ern­ment has re­duced the cash avail­able to us by £3.4 mil­lion. That’s a huge gap to fill”.

Might I re­spect­fully sug­gest if SLC scrap the pro­posed Cathkin Re­lief Road, then they would save the 14 per cent or £3.024 mil­lion that they have to con­trib­ute to its cost. That would go a long way to fill­ing the“huge gap.” Alan McLennan, By email.
