Barry happy to have deals done
Boss is now ready for a summer break
Clyde boss Barry Ferguson said he is taking a break after he completed the majority of his summer player recruitment.
The former Rangers captain has already made a host of changes to his squad, and says that now most of his work is complete he will be taking some time off.
Having released several of last season’s playing squad and bringing in experienced players, Barry believes the bulk of his work is done for now.
He told the Reformer: “I’m taking a break for a few weeks. I’ve done 90 per cent of my work in the first few weeks after the last game.
“There’s a couple of things that have been left on going but that’s all.
“I’m close to one or two more signings but that’s about it, it won’t be anything bigger than that”
So far 14 players have left Clyde this season, with around eight signing up.
The former Scotland captain said it had been “hard work” recruiting players but was happy with who he has managed to sign up so far: “A lot of work has went in to it. It’s difficult convincing players to take a cut in wage and drop down a division but I’m happy with what we’ve accomplished.
“I would say we are in a good place for the start of next season.”
In other news the club confirmed that director of youth development, Willie O’Neill, has advised that he will not be continuing in his role with Clyde.
A club statement read: “Willie brought a significant amount of energy and time commitment to the SFA’s Club Academy Scotland programme, that has grown under his leadership and has seen a number of youngsters make the step up to the first team.
“The club wishes Willie and his family well and extends its thanks to them for their significant contribution to the Academy and the club in general.”
The club confirmed that the next fans forum will take place on Monday, July 13, at Rutherglen Town Hall starting art 7.30pm.
The event will allow supporters to question Clyde manager Barry Ferguson on football matters and also members of the board on wider club issues.
