The general election campaign was one of the most heated but Margaret thinks she actually had an easier time than some of her counterparts.

She came under fire after stumbling with her words when discussing Full Fiscal Autonomy at a hustings event, with an audio of the moment being shared on social media.

But she is philosophical looking back:“I suppose in a way I got off quite lightly because I think some of our other candidates got a lot more abuse than I did. I think I dealt with it the right way.

“In one respect social media is great, it’s a great way to let people contact you but there’s a time and a place and a certain forum for certain communication.

“It’s water under the bridge now, I can forget that and move on.”
