The 113th Burnside Scout Group were setting their roots down recently.

They were having their 22nd annual plant sale recently in the Scout Hall, on Crawfurd Road.

Many locals, new and regular, came along and selected from a wide array of bedding plants and other floral delights.

The tombola was also a huge success for the Scouts this year.

Scout parents Kay and Janet organised a wonderful spread in the coffee zone, giving visitors time to think about their purchases and how much more they might be able to take home.

Speaking after the event, Group Scout Leader Graeme Hamilton said: “This event is eagerly anticipated by many people from across Burnside and Rutherglen every year.

“It is a fantastic opportunity to get nursery-grown plants at a very reasonable price, and at the same time, support local scouting.”

The group is now planning a camp for youngsters from all sections, aged 6 to 18, which will take place in September at Auchengillan Outdoor Centre, near Blanefield.
