Ra­dio talk on the Royal Burgh

Ruther­glen writer Dorothy Con­nor will be a guest on the Nick Ge­orges show on Camglen Ra­dio next week.

She will talk about Ruther­glen and her book Home Town Tales, which is cel­e­brat­ing its 10th an­niver­sary this year.

Dorothy said: “The book was writ­ten to cel­e­brate the re-open­ing of Ruther­glen Town Hall in 2005 and to com­mem­o­rate the 60th an­niver­sary of VE and VJ days at the end of the sec­ond world war.

“The Town Hall is now cel­e­brat­ing its tenth birth­day and Ruther­glen li­brary has a 70th an­niver­sary ex­hi­bi­tion on un­til Au­gust 31 in which the story of my dad’s war ex­pe­ri­ences is fea­tured amongst oth­ers.

“I have some great sto­ries to tell about the town and I’m re­ally look­ing for­ward to ap­pear­ing on the show. Camglen is a fab­u­lous lo­cal ra­dio sta­tion and is go­ing from strength to strength.”

Home Town Tales is on sale at Ruther­glen Li­brary and at the Town Hall and is now in its third reprint.
