Glo­ri­ous sun­shine brought tragedy as Ruther­glen cel­e­brated Lan­de­mer week­end, af­ter a 14-year-old drowned in the deep wa­ter reser­voir at Cathkin Braes.

Glas­gow Dis­trict Coun­cil were all set for a fight with Strath­clyde Re­gion over plans for the new Mill Street dual car­riage­way.

Lo­cal Castlemilk res­i­dents called a public meet­ing to voice their grow­ing de­mands for a full health cen­tre for the area.

The year’s Lan­de­mer Day was a huge suc­cess and plenty of fam­i­lies turned out for it, com­plete with crown­ing the new­est Queen, fete events and fea­tur­ing a parachute drop by the Red Barons aerial act

Glen­cairn fin­ished off their league cam­paign with a flour­ish, beat­ing Cum­ber­nauld 4-1.
