Shock over Maggie’s tragic death
Man in court charged with murder
Tributes have poured in for a mum of four who died after a flat disturbance on Skye Road in Cathkin last week.
Maggie Quinn (36), died after the incident which took place on the street in the early hours of Friday morning.
A man was also injured and is being treated at a hospital in the city.
Friends of the former Cathkin High pupil have paid tribute to her. O ne pal, who did not wish to be identified, said: “It is a shocking tragedy. Maggie was a bubbly outgoing person.
“It still has not sunk in properly. I’ve not been told or heard what happened. I’m still trying to come to terms with this news. It’s devastating. “She had four children.” Stunned friends flocked to social media to express their grief.
Erin McCartney posted on Facebook: “R.I.P Maggie. Can’t believe you’re gone.
“I hope you’re looking down on me and looking after me as always. Love you forever.”
Katrina Tolmie wrote: “Miss you like mad, hen. Love you forever and always. RIP.”
And yesterday ( Tuesday) tributes were posted on the Reformer Facebook page.
Kate Monaghan wrote: “awwww that’s terrible R.I.P. Maggie Quinn”.
Margaret Crowe wrote: “So sad thougts are with her family x”
Bobby-Ruth Johnston wrote: “What a shame feel sorry for her 4 we kids.”
A police spokesperson had confirmed that an investigation was underway following the incident.
A man appeared in court on Monday (June 15) charged with murder
Craig Simpson made no plea or declaration when he appeared in private at Glasgow Sheriff Court.
The 35-year-old, of Rutherglen, was also charged with assault to severe injury and attempted murder.
He was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.
A 26-year-old man was injured in the same incident on Skye Road.
He remains in hospital.
