Man in court charged with mur­der

Tributes have poured in for a mum of four who died af­ter a flat dis­tur­bance on Skye Road in Cathkin last week.

Mag­gie Quinn (36), died af­ter the in­ci­dent which took place on the street in the early hours of Fri­day morn­ing.

A man was also in­jured and is be­ing treated at a hos­pi­tal in the city.

Friends of the for­mer Cathkin High pupil have paid trib­ute to her. O ne pal, who did not wish to be iden­ti­fied, said: “It is a shock­ing tragedy. Mag­gie was a bub­bly out­go­ing per­son.

“It still has not sunk in prop­erly. I’ve not been told or heard what hap­pened. I’m still try­ing to come to terms with this news. It’s dev­as­tat­ing. “She had four chil­dren.” Stunned friends flocked to so­cial media to ex­press their grief.

Erin McCart­ney posted on Face­book: “R.I.P Mag­gie. Can’t be­lieve you’re gone.

“I hope you’re look­ing down on me and look­ing af­ter me as al­ways. Love you for­ever.”

Ka­t­rina Tolmie wrote: “Miss you like mad, hen. Love you for­ever and al­ways. RIP.”

And yesterday ( Tues­day) tributes were posted on the Re­former Face­book page.

Kate Mon­aghan wrote: “awwww that’s ter­ri­ble R.I.P. Mag­gie Quinn”.

Mar­garet Crowe wrote: “So sad thougts are with her fam­ily x”

Bobby-Ruth John­ston wrote: “What a shame feel sorry for her 4 we kids.”

A po­lice spokesper­son had con­firmed that an in­ves­ti­ga­tion was un­der­way fol­low­ing the in­ci­dent.

A man ap­peared in court on Mon­day (June 15) charged with mur­der

Craig Simp­son made no plea or dec­la­ra­tion when he ap­peared in pri­vate at Glas­gow Sher­iff Court.

The 35-year-old, of Ruther­glen, was also charged with as­sault to se­vere in­jury and at­tempted mur­der.

He was com­mit­ted for fur­ther ex­am­i­na­tion and re­manded in cus­tody.

A 26-year-old man was in­jured in the same in­ci­dent on Skye Road.

He re­mains in hos­pi­tal.
