Tributes paid to Dr RichardWal­lace

Tributes have been paid to a Ruther­glen GP, who died on Satur­day.

Dr Richard Wal­lace, who was also a mem­ber of Ruther­glen Ro­tary Club, passed away on Satur­day, June 14, at the age of 76.

Orig­i­nally from Ed­in­burgh, he started his med­i­cal life with the army in the Far East, Malaya.

There, he met Eleanor, an Aus­tralian phys­io­ther­a­pist, and af­ter his mil­i­tary ser­vice he re­turned home to Scot­land and took up a job at Ruther­glen Health Cen­tre.

He was much re­spected through­out the Royal Burgh, and joined Ruther­glen Ro­tary Club in June 1998. He was the club pres­i­dent in 2005/06, and an honorary mem­ber since June 2012.

Un­til his stroke in 2011, Richard was an ac­tive and en­thu­si­as­tic mem­ber of the Club.

He is sur­vived by his wife Eleanor, their four sons and their grand­chil­dren.
