The Cam­bus­lang and Ruther­glen area com­mit­tee has awarded its first com­mu­nity grants of the new fi­nan­cial year.

At the meet­ing last month, led by chair, Coun­cil­lor Rus­sell Clearie and de­pute, Coun­cil­lor Richard Tul­lett, a to­tal of £8575 was agreed from the com­mit­tee’s £45,000 an­nual bud­get.

And re­cip­i­ents in­clude ev­ery­one from foot­ballers and tod­dlers to car­pet bowlers and church groups.

In­cluded in this, the com­mit­tee agreed to award £3000 of the pot to help with the fund­ing of five playscheme groups for 2015/2016 to al­low them to op­er­ate dur­ing the Sum­mer, Oc­to­ber and Easter school hol­i­day pe­ri­ods.

Along with that, £ 2000 has been granted to the Cam­bus­lang Sum­mer­fest or­gan­is­ing com­mit­tee to meet the cost of co- or­di­nat­ing this year’s event.
