Queen of Scots
East Kilbride Rep’s final play of this season is Mary Queen of Scots Got Her Head Chopped Off. This tells the story of the bitter rivalry between Mary Queen of Scots and her cousin, Elizabeth I of England, told with boundless wit by one of Scotland ’s most popular playwrights Liz Lochhead. Mary Stuart has returned from France to rule Scotland, a land she neither knows nor understands and is ill prepared to rule in her own right. The drama draws out the tension between the two Queens, between Scotland and England, between Catholic and Protestant and between men and women. The play runs at the Village Theatre till Saturday.
