Clyde sign cup winner Gormley
Junior hitman is side’s latest acquisition
Clyde have added another player as Barry Ferguson continues the restructuring of his squad.
The club announced the signature of David Gormley on a one-year deal.
The 27-year-old forward, formerly of Auchinleck Talbot, becomes Barry’s ninth new signing of the summer as the Clyde manager rebuilds the squad for the 2015-16 campaign.
Gormley began his career in Motherwell’s youth academy, but took part in competitive action for the first time after signing for Glenafton Athletic. Moves to Ayr United and Alloa Athletic followed as he entered the senior ranks of Scottish football.
After returning to the Junior game with Rob Roy in 2011, David joined Super League Premier Division rivals Auchinleck a year later. He went on to become a regular starter for The Bot and scored over 50 goals over a three year period, including the winner in the 2013 Junior Cup Final.
The current squad list for 2015-16 is; Michael Bolochoweckyj, Steven Brisbane, Archie Campbell, Scott Durie, Scott Ferguson, John Gibson, David Gormley, Sean Higgins, Scott Linton, Conor Lynass, David Marsh, Mark McLaughlin, Scott McLaughlin, Mark McMillan, Brian McQueen, Chris Mitchell, Hugh Murray, Billy Robb, Mark Roberts and Chris Smith.
And Clyde’s 10th Celeb-Am Golf Day took place at the Westerwood Golf and Country club on Friday, June 5
Speaking to the club’s official website, club director Bobby Gracey said: “Despite wet underfoot conditions, everyone had a fantastic day and I have received several emails and texts from those attending looking forward to the next one.”
Clyde manager Barry Ferguson, who was also participating, gave an inspiring talk to over 80 evening guests in relation to his thoughts and plans for the season ahead. The club can confirm that an extraordinary general meeting will be held on Monday, June 22 at 7.30pm at the Town Hall, Rutherglen.
Information packs, containing the notice calling the meeting, the resolutions to be considered and the proxy forms, will be forwarded by email, and post where appropriate, to adult owners at the end of the week to comply with the statutory 14 days notice required for such meetings.
