Clyde sign cup win­ner Gormley

Ju­nior hitman is side’s latest ac­qui­si­tion

Clyde have added another player as Barry Fer­gu­son con­tin­ues the restruc­tur­ing of his squad.

The club an­nounced the sig­na­ture of David Gormley on a one-year deal.

The 27-year-old for­ward, for­merly of Auchin­leck Tal­bot, be­comes Barry’s ninth new sign­ing of the sum­mer as the Clyde man­ager re­builds the squad for the 2015-16 cam­paign.

Gormley be­gan his ca­reer in Mother­well’s youth academy, but took part in com­pet­i­tive ac­tion for the first time af­ter sign­ing for Gle­nafton Ath­letic. Moves to Ayr United and Al­loa Ath­letic fol­lowed as he en­tered the se­nior ranks of Scot­tish football.

Af­ter re­turn­ing to the Ju­nior game with Rob Roy in 2011, David joined Su­per League Premier Di­vi­sion ri­vals Auchin­leck a year later. He went on to be­come a reg­u­lar starter for The Bot and scored over 50 goals over a three year pe­riod, in­clud­ing the win­ner in the 2013 Ju­nior Cup Fi­nal.

The cur­rent squad list for 2015-16 is; Michael Bolo­choweckyj, Steven Bris­bane, Archie Camp­bell, Scott Durie, Scott Fer­gu­son, John Gib­son, David Gormley, Sean Higgins, Scott Lin­ton, Conor Ly­nass, David Marsh, Mark McLaugh­lin, Scott McLaugh­lin, Mark McMil­lan, Brian McQueen, Chris Mitchell, Hugh Mur­ray, Billy Robb, Mark Roberts and Chris Smith.

Speak­ing to the club’s of­fi­cial web­site, club di­rec­tor Bobby Gracey said: “De­spite wet un­der­foot con­di­tions, ev­ery­one had a fan­tas­tic day and I have re­ceived sev­eral emails and texts from those at­tend­ing look­ing for­ward to the next one.”

Clyde man­ager Barry Fer­gu­son, who was also par­tic­i­pat­ing, gave an in­spir­ing talk to over 80 evening guests in re­la­tion to his thoughts and plans for the sea­son ahead. The club can con­firm that an ex­tra­or­di­nary gen­eral meet­ing will be held on Mon­day, June 22 at 7.30pm at the Town Hall, Ruther­glen.

In­for­ma­tion packs, con­tain­ing the no­tice call­ing the meet­ing, the res­o­lu­tions to be con­sid­ered and the proxy forms, will be for­warded by email, and post where ap­pro­pri­ate, to adult own­ers at the end of the week to com­ply with the statu­tory 14 days no­tice re­quired for such meet­ings.
