School’s ten­nis aces

St Cadoc’s Pri­mary School did Cam­bus­lang proud af­ter com­ing sec­ond in a county wide ten­nis com­pe­ti­tion.

The an­nual pri­mary schools’ ten­nis com­pe­ti­tion, or­gan­ised by South La­nark­shire Leisure and Cul­ture’s Ac­tive School’s team in Part­ner­ship with Ten­nis Scot­land, is now in its sixth suc­cess­ful year. Eight teams of P3 and P4 boys and girls from eight South La­nark­shire Pri­mary Schools took part in the com­pe­ti­tion which was held at the end of May.

St Cadoc’s were rep­re­sented by rep­re­sented by Caitlin Mur­phy, Ni­cola Aye­dog­bon, Kaiden Boyce and Shay McManus.

Fol­low­ing a se­ries of teacher train­ing, lessons and clubs in school as well as four area ten­nis events, pupils from St Cadoc’s, along with seven other teams, were the top schools to go on to the fi­nal on May 31 at the Alis­tair McCoist com­plex.

The chil­dren played play­ers in their rank and scored on their num­ber of wins.

Un­der­bank Pri­mary School came out top on the day, closely fol­lowed by St Cadoc’s.
