Dance fever for stu­dents

Ear­lier this year S1-S6 pupils from Cathkin High took part in the South La­nark­shire schools dance off.

The pupils were split into two teams; S1-S3 and S4-S6. Both groups came up with eye catch­ing themes with the younger girls do­ing a Michael Jack­son mash-up chore­ographed by Kira Mel­lon for her S6 lead­er­ship award, and the older girls do­ing a Bey­once theme.

The mem­bers of the ju­nior team in­cluded: Emily Armstrong, Dione David­son, Marisa Hay, Amy Kelly, Madi­son Hil­lon, Som Kh­langlk­lang-Dun­lop, Beth Knox, Max McCall, Na­dia McDon­ald, Alee­sha McKil­lop, So­phie McLel­lan, Aimee McMil­lan, Caitlin Bur­nett Mor­ris, Zoe Pater­son, Melissa Rankin, Me­gan Rus­sell, Anais Sned­don, Jemma Stevens and Penny Wise­man.

The se­nior team was made up of: Robyn Munn, Tif­fany Whit­ton, Kira Mel­lon, Za­vanna Nel­son, Si­mone Cun­ning­ham, Mor­gan Ross, El­lis Hil­lon, Linzi Cochrane, Rachel Find­lay, Sara Yard­ley and Sa­man­tha Ged­des.

Both teams did in­cred­i­bly well on the night and the se­nior team won Best Hip-Hop 2015 fol­low­ing their over­all win the year be­fore.

Kira Mel­lon of the se­nior team also won Best Dancer S4-S6 2015.

All pupils who took part de­scribed the ex­pe­ri­ence as fan­tas­tic and thrilling and couldn’t be more proud of what they have achieved.
