Gym team show class

Rutherglen Reformer - - Cathkin Reformer -

Cathkin High School’s gym­nas­tics team en­joyed some suc­cess.

They trav­elled to Perth last month, to rep­re­sent the West of Scot­land at the Scot­tish Schools Gym­fest ex­hi­bi­tion.

They were the only team from the west to per­form and they were a credit to Cathkin High School. The girls per­formed a Bey­once-themed rou­tine with a com­bi­na­tion of acro gym­nas­tics and in­di­vid­ual tum­bles.

The girls - Amy Bryce­land (S3), Emma McVey (S3), Char­lie McShane(S1), Brenna Cruik­shank (S1), Emma Waugh (S1), Brooke Ni­col (S1), Me­gan Gem­mell (S1), Court­ney Shan­non (S1) and Kirsty Baird (S1). -had an amaz­ing time and en­joyed per­form­ing in front of a huge au­di­ence, and train un­der the aus­pices of coaches Gemma Wil­son and Fiona McIntyre.

The team had en­joyed some suc­cess at the South La­nark­shire gym­nas­tics com­pe­ti­tion. All of the pupils gave a fan­tas­tic per­for­mance on both the floor and vault. This re­sulted in all three teams en­tered from Cathkin High win­ning a medal.

The pupils won gold in the level one com­pe­ti­tion and also won both gold and bronze in the level two com­pe­ti­tion.

Level one (gold): Char­lie McShane, Lynn Do­nan, Brooke Ni­col and Court­ney Shan­non.

Level two (gold): Emma McVey, Jen­nifer Bruce and Kirsty Baird.

Level two (bronze): Brenna Cruick­shank, Me­gan Gem­mel, Emma Waugh and Carys McLynn.
