Rov­ing gangs were caus­ing thou­sands of pounds worth of dam­age to schools in Ruther­glen and Cam­bus­lang ev­ery week, with the latest break-ins tak­ing place at Trin­ity High and Bankhead Pri­mary.

The dis­trict coun­cil re­vealed that the cost of re­fur­bish­ing Ruther­glen Town Hall would cost around £750,000.

Stonelaw High school es­tab­lished a new clean-up squad, called S.P.L.A.T, who aimed to help clean up the school and re­move as much rub­bish as pos­si­ble.

Ruther­glen hous­ing of­fice was mak­ing ad­min­is­tra­tive changes.

Cam­bus­lang row­ing sis­ters Moira and Ca­tri­ona Mac­Cal­lum were in the medals again af­ter tak­ing five golds and two sil­vers at the Scot­tish Row­ing Cham­pi­onships.
